Current surveys say there is an estimated 6 billion people on the face of the earth. Of those 6 billion people 33% proclaim Christianity. That’s about roughly 2 billion people, give or take a few hundred thousand. If all those who claim to be Christians are taken at the rapture, which begins the seven year tribulation spoken of in the Scriptures, there would be 4 billion people left on earth. However, all those who say Lord, Lord will not make it to the wedding.
If we take the parable of the ten virgins in Matthew chapter 25 to mean that ½ will make it to the wedding and ½ will go through the tribulation to buy oil, then that number will increase to 5 billion people left after the rapture.
Following Revelations when the 4th seal is broken death goes out on a pale horse and he is given authority to kill ¼ of the earth with sword, famine, pestilence, and wild beast (Rev. 6:8). That leaves 3.75 billion people, 5 billion x 0.25= 3.75 billion. The sixth trumpet releases four angels to kill a 1/3 of mankind (Rev. 9:15-18). A 1/3 of 3.75 billion people are about 1.25 billion leaving 2.5 billion people. At the killing of the two witnesses 7,000 more people or killed, no sense in factoring them in (Rev 11:13).
If all those 1 billion left behind or the half who didn’t make it are tribulation saints who go through the fire, Dan. 11:35, are subtracted from the 2.5 billion people remaining that only leaves 1.5 billion people alive who had not accepted Jesus before the rapture.
My question is this. Can anyone afford to wait for salvation at the end of this age? Scripture says that it is appointed for men to die once then comes judgment (Hebrews 9:27). If you think you can make it through the tribulation, know this, out of 5 billion who are left 2.5 billion are killed and a billion are God’s people who have been refined. That leaves 1.5 billion people left at the 2nd coming of Christ. That’s a 25% chance you will still be alive because all who have died were judged or martyred for God! Accept Jesus Christ as Lord today because tomorrow you may not be able to afford it (Romans 1:16).
