Parallels of the Marriage of the Lamb with the Lord’s Feast
Look at the Feasts of our Lord and see how they parallel with the Wedding customs. I know that many have not really understood the true meaning of being Jesus’ bride. For Paul even prayed, “that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge — that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God” Eph 3:17-19 NIV. If you don’t know (have experienced) then you can’t be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God you will only be able to relate to Him as Master!
Here are the parallels of the marriage.
1. The Feast of Passover is the payment the Bridegroom paid (mohar) for the bride. I know we associated it with salvation but it is the ransom due for us the bride. See Ephesians 2:12 and Colossians 1:13-14. Salvation is represented on Yom Kippur or Day of Atonement. “Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him” Heb 10:1 NASU.
2. The Feast of Unleavened Bread is the symbol of sanctification represented by bread baked without leaven. Leaven is metaphoric of sin; it was the sinless life of Christ that sanctified all who believe in Him. A payment that me or you could not afford. This sanctification distinguishes both bride and groom from all others and commitment to one another from defilement with another.
3. The Feast of Firstfruits is proof of payment. It is one thing to negotiate a bridal price and it’s another to pay it. We know that Christ died for our sins but the resurrection is proof He could afford it.
4. The Feast of Weeks/ Pentecost is the written ketubah. A ketubah is a written contract indicating all the provision promised to the bride from the bridegroom. When the first trumpet was blown at Mt. Sinai God conducted a wedding between Him and Israel. He considered Himself their Husband legally and sealed it with blood. See Jeremiah 31:31-33. This was a contract written upon stone but at Pentecost AD 32-33, the ketubah was written upon our hearts.
5. The Feast of Trumpets is symbolic of the day the bridegroom abducts his bride. On this day a shout is sent out to alert the bride that her bridegroom was coming. The bridegroom would also blow the shofar for all to hear. There are more parallels to this Feast to list so check out my other articles or read my book.
6. The Feast of Yom Kippur/ Day of Atonement the appearing/revealing of the bride with her Bridegroom. The day that God will make those who hated the bride come and fall down at her feet and acknowledge that He has loved her Rev 3:9-10 NIV. This is the Day of the Lord, His second coming.
7. The Feast of Tabernacle is the ceremony under the huppah and the Feast of the Marriage Supper of the Lamb. This feast was a joyous celebration of the harvest of foods and acknowledgement of God’s faithfulness and provisions. A symbol of the millennium where God will Tabernacle among men.
