Ten Bridesmaids go out on the Feast of Trumpets
Somebody said the ten bridesmaids were not the bride; they were the tribulation saints. If we open up our interlinear Bible’s and do a word search we will see the word used for bridesmaid to be parthenos (par-then’-os); Strong’s # 3933. It is translated in English as virgin. This word was used by Paul to describe the church at Corinth, “For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste “virgin” (Strong’s #3933) to Christ” 2 Cor 11:2 KJV. It is also used to describe Mary during her betrothal period with Joseph, Luke 1:27. This word virgin is used to describe the bride, they are synonymous.
Look again at Jesus’ reply to His apostle’s who asked Him these questions, “Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world” Matt 24:3 KJV ? Matthew chapter 25 is a continuation of His answer to them. He therefore gives the disciples comparables of what the end time will be like. The two comparables are brides who are looking for their bridegroom and slaves looking for their master. You fit in either one of these two categories. Truthfully, many will not hear the call to be the bride nor take to heart the true depth of its meaning. The five foolish did not whole heartily desire the bridegroom are they would have prepared for their wedding. Have you ever known a bride to show up to her wedding without her shoes? What about her dress? Those five foolish understood the concept of being the bride but didn’t take it to heart. Therefore, they missed out on the opportunity to enter into the chamber with Christ. They will now have to buy, that is to have their hearts tested as to their commitment to Christ. They can be compared to the Church at Laodicea who thought they were rich and had become wealthy and in need of nothing yet they were advised by Jesus to go and buy gold refined by fire Rev. 3:17&18. They lacked oil! “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the churches” Rev. 3:22.
These five foolish are not thrown into outer darkness, they just don’t make it to the wedding or nuptial. They are left to buy, that is to have their hearts tested. The door is shut. “But while they were on their way to buy the oil, the bridegroom arrived. The virgins who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet. And the door was shut” Matt 25:10 NIV. The door to the Temple was left open only on the Sabbath and on the day of the New Moon Festival, Ezekiel 46:1. This is another hint that the open door for the bride is on the Feast of Trumpets the New Moon Festival. When the day passes the door will be shut. The five foolish find themselves in the tribulation. The unfaithful slave is a different story. He is thrown into outer darkness; in that place there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth Matt. 25:30.
