Set Us Free Jesus Publisher
Set Us Free Jesus Publisher was created to publish the book “You Are At the Time For Love” (Discovering Intimacy as the bride of Christ), a book about the full meaning of being the bride of Christ. I wanted to share with first time authors how they too can publish their own books and be in total control of their publication from content to cover design.
There are a lot of vanity self-publishing companies popping up everywhere who promote self-publishing but in reality they are not telling you the whole truth. Vanity self-publishing companies give authors the option of 50% to 100% of the royalties minus print cost. They also give authors a discount on the books they buy. However, it is only up to 50% off retail! Not a big discount when you consider that if you publish the book yourself you can negotiate a printing cost for a good price per book when ordering large quantities. They also proclaim that the author has 100% ownership of their book. True, but when you publish your book with a vanity self-publishing company they use their own I.S.B.N number. When you decide to change publishers or self-publish your own book you can not use that I.S.B.N. number any longer. You will have to re-submit the book for another number. Some vanity self-publishers will not give you the design cover or content format when you leave them even though you paid for the service.
How then can you avoid all this and truly own all the rights and content of your book? Become your own self-publisher. It’s as simple as building your own house. There are two ways in which you could go about the process to accomplish it. You could hire a contractor who would charge you a fee to build your house. He would then sub-contract out the building of your house to a plumber, electrician, brick layer etc. Or you could sub-contract out the building of your house yourself and save a lot of cash! Most people unfortunately don’t have the time to sub-contract the building of their home or have the contacts to build it. As a result, they hire a contractor to do all this work for them. You designed the plans and now you just want it built!
Self-publishing is basically the same but not as time consuming. It’s as easy as starting a lawn business. You could call your business by your name or you could say Joe Smith dba Smith’s Lawn-care. Once you do this all you will need to do is several basic steps and you will be well on your way to self-publishing your book. At this point you should have already edited your text for errors. This should be done by a professional or someone who has had lots of experience in editing. Never rely on your own editing skills or Microsoft Word alone. Your book needs to read and flow with continuity for your readers. An editor will be able to help you in accomplishing this goal.
Now that your book is ready for publication it needs to be in a printable form and format. If this is more than what you want to do, no problem, you can sub-contract it out to a graphic designer. They will format your text in a printable form for printers and they will also design a cover for your book. There are literally thousands of designers on the web who will do this for a reasonable fee but you will need to do your homework and shop around. You will also need to purchase your I.S.B.N. numbers at this point which can be done at Click here Bowkers.
You can buy one or ten depending on your goal, whether you plan to write more books or just this one.
The last thing you will need to do is find a printing company who will print your books. Again there are thousands out there but not all of them are true printers. Be careful and do your research.
The advantage of self-publishing is this, you the author, own both content and design. You keep 100% of royalties on all profits on your book. The content and design were very important for me because I did not want anything changed by a publisher. My content and story were specifically from God and I did not want the message changed. I did not want mans influence or marketing strategies for the sales of my book. Whatever your reason, there are many advantages to self-publishing. Good luck and God bless your endeavors.
Here is a link to a very good web site that will help answer all your self-publishing questions. I used them for my cover design and text layout. Click here for cover design
